Christmas Goodies Part Three

2

The boys have been dying to make a GingerBread House, but I've always managed to put them off. Not because I don't want to be bothered with it, but with the inability to eat sugary items it would make decorating it hard. This year, however, Kmart had some kits. I figured we'd use it and just enjoy looking at the house. In other words, I quickly snuck it out of the house on Boxing Day and no one was the wiser.. Next year, I'm thinking we'll make one from scratch that's totally sugar-free. I'll have to be on the lookout for the decorations throughout the year though..

The boys each decorated one side of the house & half the roof. Jayden chose to decorate the back of the house & the snowman out front of it. Morgan decorated the front of the house, the Christmas tree & the little Gingerbread man.

I love the way he put the candies around the roof to look like lights. I think next year we'll make smaller ones so each person can decorate their own little place. It makes for a great distraction on Christmas Eve!

Morgan's side & roof. He was going for the whole roof covered in lights much like a neighbor does. Seriously, the first time our neighbors house was lit up with their Christmas lights we honestly thought it was on fire!

The white chocolate squares were suppose to be covered in sprinkles for lights inside the house, but our icing was melting due to the heat and it took a while for it to crust up and get thick. The boys didn't seem to mind though..

Tada! I love the gumdrop effect on the front of the house and the candies on the tree to look like lights. Yes, that's a gummie ice cream cone our Gingerbread man is holding, it is summer here after all! No, those are not big shoes by his feet, they are suppose to be stepping stone freckles. This project really kept the kids good and busy on Christmas Eve and they both really got into. I think it'll become a new Christmas Eve Tradition!
