FFWW: Vacation Time

0

This week our workboxes will be on hold because we'll be spending most of the week out in the middle of no where. Literally. We're off to our annual Family Camp spot, and we've decided to go down for a few extra days. The boys have been faithfully ticking down the days as they anticipate this event and the fun that's awaiting them. Mind you, while we, the adults, were equally looking forward to it we also had our doubts with the current non-stop rain. However, after six long months of drizzle, cold, and gray skies we've got our beloved sun back! That's right, we've had beautiful skies and warm days since Monday! It did rain for a while on Wednesday but perked right back up again on Thursday. We don't know where the sun has been hiding, but we're so grateful to have it back!

Traditionally we take games down with us, because when you're in the middle of no where there's nothing better than an insanely loud game of Pictionary, Bananagrams, or Blockus. Mind you, I'm still in shock that the American Transplant won her team to victory with by drawing New Zealand.. So this time we've decided to take down a bunch of our new math games. I mean if the boys want to play educational games, who am I to complain? We've also opted to take down our new Nature game (post coming soon), and our read aloud, Dot & The Kangaroo, because we haven't quite finished up yet. That platypus (heaven forbid he hear me call him such!) was a tad long winded and we can't wait to find out if his advise pays off!

The boys are also hoping to go Owling and they wondered if Pa would take them or if we'd all go. They are quite excited about it honestly, and have asked several times. I'm pretty sure we'll find plenty more then owls as we troop around after dark, but I'm not so sure we'll spot any Great Horned owls around our neck of the woods. I suspect in the next few days the boys will be found practicing up on their owl calls so they're ready!

They're also hoping Mommy will make them some marshmallows for roasting purposes, giant breakfast cookies so they can eat on the run, and they're planning on taking plenty of salt for all those nifty little leeches that have the uncanny ability to creep up when you least want them. All though, between you and me, I'm never really in the mood for a leech! Yup, it's gonna be a pretty fun filled week ahead...
